The Bottle Cap Massacre

I have to admit that Dan's last opening was quite impressive. It came very timely because I had just started thinking that my partner was losing interests in this endeavour.

I wanted to come back with an equally good one, and yeah, it took a few days but it was totally worth it. And who gave me the idea? None other than Jamie Mcrae!!! That's right, an eye for an eye, and a Jamie for a Jamie, hehe.

This new method is not quite as "magical" as Dan's latest one, but for sure more grandeur and fun than any of the previous ones. Check it out.

Just when you thought he was out. He's back. In a big way.
OLD FAITHFUL

In order to honor my competitor I decided not to post until I had one worthy of The Sculptor.

Then last night I had a dream. Shortly after that I woke up and had breakfast. Then I called Jamie Comeau and told him I desperately needed an new open.

Really, and not very modestly, I must point out that this is an incredible open. Why you wonder?

Just do it. You will understand.

See it for yourself.

The bottle cap hit the ceiling when popped open, because of the gas which built up in the bottle in the process.

It's pretty satisfying when things work out as you have theorized.

The Psycho

Sometimes, once in a while, don't you just look at your beer an want to kill it? Don't worry, it happens to us all.

So when the mood strikes, grab a knife (doesn't have to be that sharp - a butter knife is fine), and a bottle and go to town.

This is best done in the shower, but can be done anywhere.

The Hang Man

You will need a strong horizontal support and a strong wire (I am using TV cable here) in order to open a beer using this method. Place the bottle cap in the noose at the end of the wire, tighten, and snap the bottle down to open. It is as fun as it is easy.

I recommend you to listen to "Gallow's pole" by Led Zeppelin as you snap open a cold one using this method.

Jesus. Took me a while to think of something original tonight. But I like this one. It is a good counterpart for the "69" (as demonstrated by the bullet), since the 69 always leaves one lonely beer.

So you take one of those caps, fold it in half, and take that beer to the dance...

THE TOOTH BREAKER

This classic move does not need much explanation. Hitting the bottom of the bottle before opening will break the vacuum seal, thus ensuring the safety of your teeth. Overdone however, as seen in the demo clip, you will have a very very wet crotch.

The Paper

Big fan of the Nunchuk.

The Paper just requires, as per the name, one piece of paper of any color. And two hands. And a beer.

I do not recommend this method when you are low on beer, as you will waste 1/4 (if you are skilled) to 1/2 of the beer in the form of foam. In fact, the beer shot out so forcefully, that the cameraman stopped video recording prematually in shock. It took me 10 minutes to wipe the spilled beer on my floor, desk and computer. On the other hand, you can only imagine how fun it would be to open every single bottle of beer like this at a binge party with your best buddies.

The Belt Buckle

So, one key to a good beer opening technique is that you can use something commonly on your person to do the opening. Hence the popularity of lighters and keys for the task. This one is called, aptly, the Belt buckle.

I am not used to this technique myself yet, and I have to admit that this needed many attempts. But you will achieve perfection through practice.

Nice work on the naming - I am going to use that from now on. And agree that 69 is definitely different from "the pen".

This one of mine I call the furniture saver. You use a coin as the intermediary between the furniture and the bottle. Unlike another similar technique you do not need a flat surface for the coin as it is positioned vertically.

*I agree that it is slightly lame that it took two tries, but hey, c'est la vie.

SIXTY NINE

This one is clearly different from "the pen", since the leverage is provided by the muscle between your thumb and index finger. I have demonstrated it with another beer (hence the name "Sixty Nine"), but of course this method can also be used with many other objects such as a spoon, pen, etc.

Well, sure, the twist is simpler when you have a twist off.

Sticking to the basics, let me present the pen lever. There are clearly a lot of variations present with this (which Jae should not use - unless they are clearly different or funny).
